You can fail to achieve any of the things you planned and still live a happy and fulfilled life, because of opportunities that come along that you never planned for. But these opportunities can be missed if you stick doggedly to your preconceived blueprint. — Thomas Sowell

Garbled Audio in Camtasia Videos

Filed Under (Blogging, Technology) by admin on 10-04-2008

Anyone else having problems with garbled audio in some Camtasia Videos? I have been doing a little research to try and find a solution. I found a video explanation about what is going on at Lon Naylor’s Screen Cast Profits.

Seems there are some conflicts between Camtasia Studio 5 and the new Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 when the project is produced to SWF using the MP3 audio codec. Lon’s video explains how to correct this problem if you are the video producer.

I have had problems with this at the user end since the beginning of 2008. I know, I know — good job getting right on it… it’s only April already! I still don’t know if there is a fix at the user end. I have checked out Adobe Flash Player Support and I haven’t found a fix for the garbled audio problem, so far.

Lon says the conflicts do not occur with the earlier versions of Adobe Flash Player. So if Adobe doesn’t have a fix right now, an alternative workaround would be to uninstall Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.115.0 and install an earlier version of the Adobe Flash Player.

TechSmith reports that they have contacted Adobe support and reported the issue with the garbled audio to them. For more information see TechSmith Answer: Flash files with audio sound garbled or high pitched.
